EMAILING INSTRUCTIONS:
As sometimes email transfers cause formatted poems to re-align or present random results we ask that you do not format your poems at all. Simply type them in like a normal email and use slashes [/] to indicate line breaks, double slashes [//] to indicate stanza breaks and bracketed instructions to indicate spacing or indenting of lines ie. [3].
Also, don't use the CTRL key to create type. It translates through email in random ways. We end up with dashes [-] as question [?] marks or apostrophes ['] as commas [,] or greek letters. We have a standard format you can see throughout the magazine to keep its contents consistent, please help us help you in keeping your poem looking right. Thanks!

POEM SUBMISSION DEADLINE:

March 1st (Published and available in Autumn)

Lust: Lust is now a section within Quills. Please submit erotic poetry with “Lust Submission” in the subject line.

Rejections/Acceptance note:
Poets can check the website in late June on the “contributors” page for their names. Poets whose work is published will receive a complimentary copy of that edition provided they have sent their mailing address with the submission.

The Publisher's note on format:
I believe poets create a poem with certain definite spacing requirements and line breaks. They do this to give emphasis where they believe it’s needed. I plan on keeping that integrity to some degree. However, I do not believe a good poem requires over-exaggerated indenting or misalignment in order to convey its meaning. Read aloud, a poem should not leave the listener wondering what he or she has missed. I don’t like off-beat spellings or visual acrobatics either, but I thoroughly believe in poetic licence. The format of the poems submitted may altered to suit the design standard of the magazine as a whole.

Annual awards will be introduced as sponsors become available. Foundations, Corporations, or individuals wishing to sponsor an award can contact the publisher directly at publisher@quillspoetry.com
